“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,” – Psalm 127:3
Vacation Bible School (VBS) at SJTW isn’t just a summer event—it’s an experience that plants seeds of faith and joy in young hearts! Parishioner Lisa-Marie Stienessen is active in the VBS ministry as a leader of its Imagination Station, starting when her children were toddlers in the summer program. They loved VBS so much that after aging out, they led the Games and Bible Skit stations and worked as small group leaders. Her oldest, now in college, will be returning this summer to lead the Imagination Station with his high school brother! Lisa-Marie especially loves the “sciency-gizmos” of the station, which are small toys the kids make that help teach the corresponding Bible lesson of the day. To her, it demonstrates “God is all around us and has created this incredible world for us to enjoy!”
Lisa-Marie says it’s incredible seeing the number of teenagers looking to volunteer at VBS. “I think that the elementary aged participants have a much stronger connection to the teenage leaders. Seeing older, ‘cooler’ kids actively engaged in their faith is such a powerful example to help the younger kids grow in their relationship with Christ!”
VBS is a great way for kids to grow in their faith relationship with God and learn more about Him. Lisa-Marie says, “I believe that the more time families spend in the church building outside of Mass the more engrained it becomes that faith is more than just a Sunday obligation.”
VBS is more than a week of fun, it's a place where faith comes alive! We'd love for your children to be a part of this amazing journey! VBS is open to incoming preschoolers (3 years old by June 1st and fully toilet trained) through 5th grade. Come make new friends, grow in faith, and have a blast!
