Discipleship Small Groups
Love. Purpose. Relationship… Through these, the Holy Spirit can transform our lives to become the people God created us to be.
Connecting with a small group of friends about faith, family and life is an amazing way to support you with the individual attention, encouragement, perspective, and prayerful support you need for sustained, personal spiritual growth.
Discipleship groups aren't just beneficial, they're biblical! Small groups nourished the early Church and was the model that Jesus used form HIS disciples!
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
- Matthew 18:20
What is a Discipleship Group?
St. Joseph the Worker Discipleship Groups are small, self-selected, groups of (typically) 4-8 adults who gather to learn, pray, and serve together.
Disciples Learn
D-Groups may select from bible studies, or discussion guides on theological topics, encyclicals, lives of the saints, and more! These studies typically run 6-12 sessions each.
Disciples Pray
D-Groups may choose to learn about and practice a wide range of prayer forms, and/or devotional practices and experiences. Materials on these topics typically run for 6-8 sessions each.
Disciples Do
D-Groups may choose to gather together to participate in service to the most vulnerable in our community. Groups may choose to participate in events and programs offered through St. Joseph the Worker or may choose a service experience of their own. Materials will be provided to help members to spiritually reflect on God’s call for each of us to use our gifts to serve the great need in the world. Service/reflection experiences typically run for 4-6 sessions.
Forming Discipleship Groups
Forming a Discipleship Group is designed to be simple and flexible. Adults are free to choose their own groups, select their own meeting times and locations, and choose to participate in a wide range of faith experiences. Or, if you choose, the Discipleship Team can help you find or form a group that matches your interests.
Make your own group:
Find 4-8 adult friends/acquaintances who would like to spend some time together to learn, share, and explore aspects of our Catholic faith and relationship with God.
