“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”
– Proverbs 19:17
Bev Christian, a dedicated parishioner, generously volunteers at CROSS Services, a vital community partner of SJTW. Every Thursday morning, Bev lends her time to this nonprofit organization. CROSS assists local families and individuals, with a special focus on ending hunger. Donated food from grocery stores finds purpose at CROSS, where volunteers like Bev sort it. Other volunteers stock the shelves, assist shoppers, help at the welcome desk, organize their sweet repeat boutique, and lend their time in various other areas that make CROSS so special.
Bev loves helping the people who come to CROSS for help. “Many of the people that come in for help are lower income and the food they receive helps supplement their budgets. Being a senior on a fixed income myself, I can empathize with people who need extra help.” she says.
As she volunteers at CROSS, she feels that God is working through her, benefitting herself and the people who come in. “The staff at CROSS is wonderful and all are God-loving people.” she says. “I would hate to miss working on Thursday mornings as it is a gift from God and starts my day off in a good way.”
CROSS's outreach is expanding, reaching more families in need than ever before.
