“Those who are gracious to the poor lend to the Lord, and the Lord will fully repay them.”
– Proverbs 19:17
Your generous support to CPL makes the annual Children’s Clothing Sale at SJTW possible. The Children’s Clothing Sale brings our community together by providing affordable clothing options for our parishioners and neighbors while also supporting our community partners financially. It’s a win for all!
Jennifer Brandt and Kim Shulte have together coordinated over 20 sales throughout the years. They advertise the sale through email and pulpit announcements, secure volunteers to help, run the sale, and then donate the proceeds to various organizations. Jennifer and Kim’s families have gotten involved as well, with their daughters being co-co-coordinators! “Both young women are actively involved with all details of the sale, and work from the beginning to the end of the sales, right alongside us. In fact, it’s our daughters who keep convincing us to keep at this!” Jennifer says.
The Children’s Clothing Sale has strengthened Kim’s relationship with God, knowing that it’s helping people in need. “I have gotten to see the happy faces of whom this sale has helped, and it makes me grateful.” she says. For Jennifer, she’s seen a real community come out of the sale, from the volunteers to the shoppers. “Every sale, we have ‘God moments’ – where the right person is in the right place at the right time. It’s very easy to see Christ in others when we’re involved with the sale.”
The proceeds of the sale go to a variety of local organizations that support youth in need. Hope 4 Youth, one of the more recent organizations they’ve helped, supports older teens in Anoka. “Our girls have shopped their ‘most needs’ list and delivered the goods in person. It’s so great for them to see their hard work pay off.” Kim says.
Jennifer says they could always use more volunteers! There are many different tasks throughout the sale weekend, and anyone can be involved in the sale. “Grab a friend or family member and join us!” The 2024 sale is May 18 &19.
