FESTIVAL COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA (FCO)
Aaron J. Carpenter, Founder and Conductor
Membership Guidelines
1. Membership in FCO is first and foremost for learning and fun. Learning music and playing in a group for personal satisfaction and for the audience that attends our concerts is the mission of the FCO. Practicing ahead of time is encouraged as it allows the ensemble to develop and leads to a better concert performance.
2. Membership is open as far as space allows. There are no auditions and so mutual respect for Members at all levels of accomplishment allows for focus on the group and the music.
3. The Conductor determines where and when new Members can fit in. The Conductor will make seating assignments or ask sections to share in making assignments.
4. Members should attend every rehearsal possible. Missing parts or parts not covered hurts the whole ensemble.
5. Members are responsible for the music they sign out. Failure to return music or damage to music will result in that Member being liable for replacement costs.
6. Members work together to set up and put away chairs and stands before and after every rehearsal and concert. Come early or stay late to help out.
7. A Board of Trustees governs FCO. All of the board members are musicians in the Orchestra and are elected by the Members. Members are encouraged to share their ideas and suggestions with board members. Members may also serve on Committees.
8. The Conductor makes programming decisions but welcomes all ideas from the Members about repertoire.
